Purpose:
This course provides specific instruction on current sustainability policy, including Guiding Principles for Sustainable Federal Buildings and UFC 1-200-02 High Performance and Sustainable Building (HPSB) Requirements for both military and civil works vertical construction.
Description:
This course delivers a practical, cross-functional approach to implementing DoD sustainability requirements across the entire USACE project delivery lifecycle. Designed specifically for multi-disciplinary Project Delivery Teams (PDTs), this training translates Federal mandates, UFC 1-200-02, and HPSB Guiding Principles into actionable design, engineering, project management, and construction administration workflows.
Through interactive lectures, real-world case studies, and hands-on exercises, participants will learn how each discipline directly impacts sustainability compliance from initial planning and development through design, commissioning, contract administration, and post-occupancy reporting.
Prerequisites:
Attendees should be assigned as USACE civil works and/or military engineering staff, such as architects, engineers, project managers, or construction staff. It is also applicable to master planners, energy managers, and cost engineers. Nominees should have basic familiarity with the USACE design and construction process.
